Bonnie

Clyde

When the girls came home from college, one of them had a mattress protector. It is soft and similar to memory foam. It was just stuffed into a closet, in an empty room. The plan was to create a pillow from it. So, Bradley measured the dog crates, cut an appropriate size piece, and covered it with a blanket.

The dogs were VERY interested in what he was doing but watching them stand on it was funny. It took them some time to get used to it. When it was done, Clyde, who loves pillows, wouldn’t even get in his crate at first. Bonnie, would get in, but not sit. Too funny.
They love it now!

Bonnie, you make it impossible Not to love you. Good thing I don’t try!!!

We have been the victim of this strange behavior that Bonnie does. She, usually from across the room, will stop what she is doing and stare at you (like she does Clyde before she pounces). Without any warning, besides the few seconds of stare down, she lunges toward you (which can be scary if you didn’t know her well) and springs for your head. She climbs on you as high as she can get, smells your hair, and flings herself on you (again, can seem and feel aggressive). She then usually jumps back toward your lap and locks onto your arm (again—yikes). She bites down but never enough to hurt you but hard enough for you to know she is showing you attention.

When researching this behavior, we found that this was her own way to show affection. We never stop her; we fully embrace it (even to the point of being a little hurt if she doesn’t give you a turn). I would never dream of discouraging affection, so as long as she shows restraint when locked on the arm, we love it!

Bonnie and Clyde know that they are not allowed on the furniture; but somehow, they think that EVERY blanket is theirs. Many times, we will get down on the floor so that they can get in our lap. We know they love blankets, so we willingly comply. But now they believe that every time we use a blanket, it is an invitation to get on the furniture with you, even if the blanket is on the furniture (since all blankets are theirs anyway).
Clyde takes full advantage of this while Bonnie holds back. I could blame Clyde but someone has to allow this behavior. Someone is providing the lap! Why Bradley,… Just, why?

MOXIE AND PENNY

Moxie and Penny both took trips to the vet this week. Penny received her yearly allergy shot and was fine. Moxie got a tooth pulled and all her quicks trimmed down. Poor thing came home drunk and shaven from the IV. She was unstable and pitiful but in true “Moxie spirit” she was polite and patient still. (She just wanted to be alone with some human contact)
