Meet Bonnie

Staffordshire Terrior

Color: white with brown spots

Expected size: 70-80 lbs

When we saw her we fell in love! Her expression won us over. Bonnie is mostly white with greenish-bluish eyes (can't quite tell). She is fiesty, fearless, smart, and easily angered (when wrestling and losing).

Meet Clyde

Staffordshire Terrior

Color: Lilac

Expected size: about 80 lbs

Cylde is a lilac with soft blue eyes that will melt your heart during the hardest blizzard. His eyes drew me to him right away and everytime I look at him, I (almost) let him get away with anything he wants. He is sweet natured and as calm as a puppy is able to be.

Bonnie and Clyde came into our lives as a clever thought.

ME: "People love dogs, especially puppies. Wouldn't it be cute to have a blog about puppies. People love puppies! We could record all of their mischevious ways and all that they learn as they grow."

HUSBAND: "Sure, we could name them Bonnie and Clyde...The tails of Bonnie and Clyde."

Instantly, I was hooked! Over the next few weeks we (mostly my husband) went on an all out internet search for the perfect pups. We were very familiar with pitbull mixes and decided to stick with the breed that offered all of the love and loyality we could stand, but also pronounced power and security with their stature alone.

After many heart breaking attempts with scammers and communication failures, we finally drove over three hours to get these two littermates the next state over. They are full blood Staffordshire Terriors with the promise of a life in the spotlight.

CUTENESS vs. WORK

These goobers are soooooo adorable. I just want to give them all of my affection. Clyde's blue-eyes and Bonnie's nature of curling up in your lap are irresistible. But I must be honest, PUPPIES ARE A LOT OF WORK!!!

I wake up early to take care of all of their morning needs; then my husband or son take care of the afternoon, and whoever is at the house that night does the evening shift. I have 5 adult children, two of which are still living at home. Between the two kids, and my husband and me, we try to work our schedules to monitor Bonnie and Clyde as much as possible. But the children, who were so excited to see their sweet little faces at first, quickly scowl at the sheer amount of poop and the never empty, built-in fire hose. By the time we get home from work, they are eager to be free from poop duty.

The first day, this dynamic duo sprayed the entire floor before the day was done with their unlimited supply of liquid "piddle." We bought puppy mats, and "cheat" spray that lures them to the pad. At least, that's what we were told. Is that what happens? Nope! They sniff it, walk past it and squat on the carpet, on the hard wood, under the table and chairs, in my office, in the entry...EVERYWHERE! GRR...how much longer is this stage??? I literally can't get the first spot cleaned before the next one appears. It took Clyde all of two days to learn that our downstairs (where they are confined) is a huge circle. He was trying to squat and I was not letting him go to all of his "favorite" spots to leave us his personal thank you. He started running in the circle from room to room as I chased behind him calling his name (which he doesn't know). I was not keeeping up very well, and he is still little. He then darted to the living room and hid behing the recliner. Not willing to be out done, I squeezed behind the recliner and scooped him up and ran him to the pad. He looked up at me, took a few steps off the pad and peed on the floor! GRR!!! My eyes couln't have rolled far enough back in my head.

The only consolation is that I know they are nervous, overwhelmed, and stressed about the big change in their lives (just like we are) and this will get better. It has to!

If they just weren't so stinkin' cute I might be able to stay mad!!!

Bring Home Day: Long drive
